North Mountain Park Natural Area

Natural Area at North Mountain Park

Many visitors are familiar with the park's Nature Center and Demonstration Gardens. But what else does North Mountain Park offer? Take a stroll along our walking paths or bike path to find out!

Access to the natural area's walking paths begins just past the pavilion as you head downhill between the ponds. To the right, near the amphitheater, there are several kid-sized animal homes and a replica Shasta Native American village.

The natural area is home to three ponds and two access points to Bear Creek. These are ideal spaces for quiet reflection and wildlife viewing — especially birding. You can also enjoy a Self-guided walk on our Ethnobotanical Trail and learn all about the many uses that Shasta people have for native plants.

Monitoring and Restoration efforts are on-going in the Natural Area.
