Playgrounds and Other Park Features
North Mountain Park has two playgrounds, and an artistic spiral serpent sandbox (featured above), all of which are designed for youngsters ages 1 — 8. A bike trail winds through the park and connects Mountain Avenue to the upper portion of the park. There are also two softball, two baseball, and one large soccer field in the upper portion of the park along with two concession buildings housing bathrooms and drinking fountains. Parking is available in the upper lot (near the substation), north of Hersey Street along Mountain Avenue, and just north of the Nature Center. With the exception of a very short connection between Mountain Avenue and the Village Square neighborhood, dogs are not allowed at North Mountain Park; however, Ashland does have a dog park.
