Sustainability at North Mountain Park

Solar Panels on Pavilion at N MT Park

Since 1996, when the community of Ashland decided to save an old farmhouse and convert it into a Nature Center, this site has been a model for sustainable living and resource conservation. By modeling sustainability practices, offering educational programs, interpretive displays, and community events such as Earth Day, the North Mountain Park Nature Center provides information and inspiration for people seeking to be better stewards of our wonderful planet. Many sustainable living concepts are exemplified at the North Mountain Park Nature Center and its surrounding grounds. Community members who wish to incorporate sustainable living concepts into their own homes, gardens and lifestyles will find ideas pertaining to green building, energy efficiency, organic gardening practices, solar energy and water conservation, and more.
